Getting creative for National Heart Month!

We get so many people doing wonderfully creative things to help us raise money and fight heart disease! For instance, loads of brilliant local bands and solo artists are putting their heart and soul into making singles for us.

Here's just a sample of their talent...

Miccoli - Angels & Demons

Two of Miccoli's band members have personal experience with heart disease - they have a condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.

Knock Twice - I Heart You

Formed by a local fundraiser, Knock Twice released this single for Valentine's day! Good luck to them in their fundraising efforts.

Every penny you raise to help us beat heart disease is appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work so far in National Heart Month, and don't forget to Wear Red on 26 February!

So what exactly is cardiac arrest?

We've expanded our information on cardiac arrest on our website after the death of singer Michael Jackson at the age of 50. He had reportedly suffered one at his home in Los Angeles.

There's often some confusion between cardiac arrest and a heart attack, but they are actually different things.

Cardiac arrest, which is when the heart stops pumping blood around the body because of a disturbance in the normal heart rhythm, can happen without any existing heart condition.

A heart attack can be one of the causes of cardiac arrest, but other causes can include such things as electrocution, bleeding, choking or a drugs overdose.
