Anon asks how do you stop dodgy collectors taking your bags?

We're working with the police and other charities to combat this very problem. Unfortunately this is a huge problem which is growing. We estimate that next year this could mean we lose £3million.

There are a few ways you can help:

• if you can - donate in person in your local shop or a local clothing / book bank
• or call to confirm when your local BHF collection is scheduled
• and if you do see any suspicious activity jot down as much detail as you can (vehicle number plate and description) and report it to your local shop or the non-emergency police number.
